Spring is upon us. Flowers are blooming; the weather is beginning to change for the better. It’s the time of year when boots are being traded in for flip-flops sweaters for sun dresses. You want to run outside and feel the sun or your skin and the breeze in your hair, but before you rush out the door, there’s something or more specifically someone you have to account for; your newborn. You want to take them out in their bassinet stroller.
Your baby’s skin has most-likely had minimum sun exposure up until this point, so it is extremely important to protect your child by applying some form of sun screen ideally one with an SPF ranging from 15-30 considering that the difference in SPF’s over 30 are minimal. It should be noted that natural or chemical free sunscreens that contain Titanium or Zinc Dioxide are ideal because they form a protective layer or shell or your baby’s skin.
After your child is prepared for the outdoors, what is the best way for him or her to take in nature? A stroller is probably the simplest solution, you can go for walks allowing your child to see the environment around them while also giving yourself the chance to exercise and enjoy the fresh air.
It is important and in my opinion essential that your bassinet stroller has a hood or bonnet which limits your infant’s exposure to the sun’s rays. Although vitamin D which is abundant in sunlight can have positive health implications for your infant, over-exposure can defeat the these potential positives.
